Amazon shrinks longtime small bookseller

Dear Ina,

I’m not sure if anyone else pointed this out to you, but in my Amazon sales file I had around 8,000 listings that I’ve sold since 2016 and now I’m out of stock.

Last weekend I started getting dozens of emails like the one below from Amazon. I can no longer sell these items (well over 100 to date) without approval. WHEN I TRY TO GET APPROVAL, I RECEIVE A MESSAGE THAT SAYS THEY ARE NOT TAKING AN APPLICATION.

This has been going on for quite some time with DVDs, CDs, and textbooks but the books they are finishing now are very common 20 year old books, I’ve never seen so many at once before, it’s usually 1 month or less.

I was getting so many that I have now deleted almost all of my closed ads.

This gives big sellers a huge advantage over small sellers and if this continues I probably won’t be able to list any titles in 6 months or a year at most.

Amazon bookseller since 2003
