Emerald Fennell’s “Saltburn” is set to be acquired by Amazon.
The 36-year-old Oscar-winning actor’s latest film, starring Jacob Elordi, Barry Keoghan and Rosamund Pike, is set to be picked up by Amazon as part of a deal at Cannes for worldwide rights, reports Deadline.
Fennell will also produce the film alongside LuckyChap Entertainment’s Josey McNamara, Tom Ackerley and Margot Robbie.
Little is known about the film except that it is about an aristocratic English family and will be an “obsession story”.
Filming for the project is expected to begin later this year.
The filmmaker won the Best Original Screenplay Oscar for ‘Promising Young Woman’ and was also nominated for Best Director and Best Picture.
Fennell previously collaborated with LuckyChap on “Promising Young Women” and praised the production company for taking a chance.
She said, “It was the first [feature script] that I had the opportunity to write, because LuckyChap bought it when they did. What was incredible, both psychologically and financially, was that I was able to really take the time to do it. And at the level of the idea, the films that I like are very atypical. I like thrillers. I like tight turns. Story driven, character driven, but also entertaining. I really wanted to do a female revenge movie about what it would be like if a woman really wanted revenge.”
