Invibes Advertising announcement ambitious
sustainability goals

London, 22 novemberber 2022 Invibes Advertising, a leading technology company specializing in digital advertising, publish the results of anot Evaluation of his energy performance and announces a set of ambitious sustainability goals for the coming years.

In order to contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions from the advertising sector, Invibes Advertising has launched an internal program to assess and improve its energy performance, in particular the impact of its digital advertising campaigns.

The largest share of the Group’s energy consumption is related to its outsourced servers. They are hosted by two major service providers that account for 99% of its average server load. One of them runs on 100% green electricity and the other on 78% renewable energy.

Additionally, Invibes Advertising runs some of its applications using carbon-neutral cloud services.

Impact of Invibes Advertising campaigns

The Company has carried out an assessmentI of the average carbon footprint of its advertising campaigns in September 2022:

  • The first step was to calculate the carbon footprint of Invibes Advertising’s technology platform for each ad impression, using the energy consumption of the company’s servers, the type of energy used by service providers hosting these servers and the number of ad impressions they generated. September 2022.
  • The second step was to estimate the carbon footprint of an ad impression on the end-user side, based on the number of ad impressions for each type of device used to view our ads in September 2022, statistical data on the energy consumption of the devices used, as well as information on the carbon footprint of electricity in the country where the end users are located.
  • Finally, we estimated the energy consumption and carbon footprint of the network between our servers and the end user, based on internet energy intensity data in kWh/GB, as well as the carbon footprint electricity in countries where users end up viewing our ads.

This aggregate calculation resulted in an average energy consumption of 0.22 kWh per 1,000 ad impressions in September 2022, corresponding to an average CO2 emissions of 26.1 grams per 1,000 ad impressions. In comparison, an average display campaign is estimated to emit 15% more CO2 (30 grams of CO2 per 1,000 ad impressionsii).

In large measure, the low carbon footprint of Invibes’ campaigns results from the fully integrated nature of its technology platform which enables efficient processes, as well as the low carbon footprint of the Company’s servers. In addition, Invibes Advertising’s smart targeting allows its campaigns to achieve high efficiency with optimized number of impressions, further minimizing their carbon impact.

Invibes Advertising’s proprietary technology platform was designed to optimize processes, improve technical performance, reduce associated costs and provide energy efficiency benefits.

With full control of its technology platform, Invibes Advertising is able to constantly evolve and improve. Much of the Company’s R&D effort is aimed at achieving greater efficiency to ensure scalability, which also has benefits in terms of energy consumption.

Invibes Advertising is ambitious sustainability targets

True to its core value of always innovating in all aspects of its business, Invibes Advertising has launched several initiatives to reduce the carbon footprint of its campaigns:

  • Actions to reduce the carbon footprint of the processes directly controlled by Invibes, by reducing the platform’s energy consumption and favoring green electricity sources.
  • Actions to reduce the energy consumption of its campaigns outside the scope of Invibes, at the level of the network and the end user, knowing that the carbon footprint of the electricity used there is not controlled by the ‘company.

The Company has defined a series of objectives which it aims to achieve:

  • Half-yearly monitoring and publication of the carbon footprint of Invibes‘ advertising campaigns.
  • 99% green energy for outsourced to serveers by the end of 2023.
  • ten% annual reduction of the energy consumption associated with Invibes advertising campaigns for the next 3 years.

This will enable Invibes Advertising to deliver Excellence to its clients in the ever more important aspect of reducing the carbon impact of their advertising activities.
