The 27-year-old, who reached a career-high 43rd in 2019, has had a much better year in 2021 than in 2022. She has struggled to get past the early rounds this year and hopes to turn things around in Chennai . .

Kasintseva is a former Australian Open junior champion
Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva will only make her second appearance in the main draw. The 17-year-old made her main draw debut in Madrid last year, only to fall in the first round.
Ranked No. 186 in the world, the Andorran is 15-11 in all tournaments this year. His best was a second place finish at an ITF event in Bendigo, Australia.
She was also a semi-finalist in the ITF La Bisbal clay court tournament. More recently, she put on an excellent show at WTA 125 in Vancouver, winning the first two rounds before falling to Bronzetti in the quarter-finals.
Kasintseva won the Australian Open women’s title in 2020 and reached world junior No. 1 ranking in March of the same year. Overall, Kasintseva won one and twice finished second at the ITF level. She has also won nine ITF junior titles.
