Pop-up Vancouver Small Business Marketplace hosted by Amazon

Discover local businesses you didn’t know existed.

What do you call a big box store that has achieved total world domination? A mega box store?

Either way, Amazon decided to use its super big mega box status to elevate local Vancouver businesses by giving them Amazon showcases and host an in-person “Vancouver Small Business Pop-Up Market” at Jack Poole Plaza on Saturday, June 18.

The square around the Olympic cauldron will be transformed into a showcase for our local entrepreneurs and their various talents.

Visitors can expect well-known names such as 49th Parallel Coffee Roasters, Stonz Bootsand the essential oil diffuser brand vitruvian alongside lesser-known companies like So’Ham Yoga Lifestyle, Organic therapies for the skinand Zazubean Organic Chocolate.

The 31 vendors come from all over the Lower Mainland and cover every facet of crafts, from food, beauty and clothing to art and homewares.

The marketplace is part of a larger initiative by Amazon to promote local shopping (but still through their platform). They have “local” business pages for Ontario, Quebec, the Prairies and Atlantic Canada as well as British Columbia

It should be noted, however, that Amazon storefronts only stock a limited selection of products from each company. For example, Organic Skin Therapies offers six product categories, but only three products in total are listed on their Amazon storefront.
