The Lord of the Rings TV show’s first trailer will be released on Super Bowl Sunday

It’s been quite a while since we’ve seen Hobbits, Uruks, Dwarves and Elves populating the big screen in Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies. Ever since then, fans have been wondering when we’ll see more Mordor in theaters. While we don’t know exactly when JRR Tolkien’s books will be made into movies next, we do know that the award-winning books will soon be available on Amazon Prime Video.

Fans can’t wait to see Sauron’s rise in The Rings of Power.

We’ve known The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power for years. Finally, a few weeks ago, Amazon Prime Video released a trailer for the upcoming fantasy TV show while confirming its title. Now, it looks like we’ll soon be seeing more of The Rings of Power at Super Bowl LVI on Sunday.

According to the TV show’s official Instagram account, audiences will get a closer look at The Rings of Power on Sunday. Millions of eyes will be on the screens to watch the game between the Los Angeles Rams and the Cincinnati Bengals, which is the perfect opportunity to spread the word about the show. Unfortunately, Amazon hasn’t announced when exactly the Lord of the Rings trailer will go up, but that shouldn’t be after the game starts at 6:30 a.m. EST.

Super Bowl Sunday is always a draw and this year should be no different. In addition to The Rings of Power, there are reports that Marvel Studios and the DCEU will be sharing new footage for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Black Adam, respectively. Not to mention, there’s a long list of upcoming shows and movies that could make an appearance, including Obi-Wan Kenobi on Disney+, which would premiere in May, and Moon Knight, among many others.

The events of the Rings of Power take place a thousand years before Frodo got his hands on the One Ring.

That said, we hope Amazon Prime Video has something big planned for the Super Bowl on Sunday. Technically, The Rings of Power doesn’t need an event to build hype, no matter if it’s as huge as Super Bowl Sunday. However, since it will be there, Amazon Prime Video could also make an impression.

In other news, The Boys Season 3 finally got a release date earlier this year. The critically acclaimed satirical superhero series will return with an all-new season on June 3, 2022. Before that, fans can munch on The Boys: Diabolical, an animated spin-off that hits theaters March 4.
