“The Wheel of Time” episode 8 review: epic, thrilling and a finale to remember

After an exciting journey of more than seven weeks, the day has finally arrived for fans to sit down on their couches and watch Amazon Prime Video’s “The Wheel of Time” season finale. The show was a resounding success for the streaming service and became the number one show in the world with over a billion minutes of viewing. So, don’t guess that there is a lot of anticipation for the final.

The series was “unfair” to “Game of Thrones” even though the stories are different. But the series has managed to create its own base, and those who loved “GoT” also love the series for its thrilling sequences and characters. For seven weeks, we have been waiting for Moiraine Damodred (Rosamund Pike), Egwene (Madeleine Madden), Rand’al (Josha Stradowski), Mat (Barney Harris), Perrin (Marcus Rutherford), Nynaeve (Zoe Robins) and Lan (Daniel Henney) to show off their powers in the battle against the Dark One, and it looks like they’re ready to go wild to save everyone.

The finale is over 56 minutes long and within those minutes the show managed to give viewers what they expected to see in the season finale. The final episode begins with Moiraine and Rand’al crossing a dense jungle to meet the Dark One. Everyone tries to find them, but no one is able to find them. Meanwhile, Nynaeve, Egwene, and Perrin are inside the kingdom of Malkier and part of the war as an army of Trollocs advance to destroy the kingdom.

I would really like to congratulate the creators for handling the finale so efficiently. The episode could have gotten very complex because of all the storylines they had to show in it, but they focused on the main points and mastered them in a masterful way. Now, we already knew Rand’al was the Dragon Reborn, but it couldn’t be that easy for him to go and erase the main villain. So, we are seeing a certain situation where Rand is being tested and manipulated by the dark to do what the previous Dragon did – burn the whole world down. The tension and nervousness that the whole storyline builds up throughout the episode is brilliant and you’ll find it was worth the wait.

When it comes to acting, Rosamund Pike is once again stealing the show and showing why she is one of the best actresses in the world right now. Throughout the series, she has been presented as a powerful person who will do anything to save the people who are dear to her. However, in the finale, his role changes a bit. In the finale, she’s mostly a supporting character, which is good, as it allows the writers to explore more of the other main characters, especially the Dragon Reborn.

Josha Stradowski is the one to watch in the final. It has performed very well over the weeks, but when it came to showing off its fan it did not disappoint. Meanwhile, Zoe Robins, Madeleine Madden, and Marcus Rutherford performed their respective roles effortlessly. Watch out for Zoe and Madeleine in the finale, they will wow everyone in the last moments of the show.

While Daniel Henney didn’t have a bigger role in the finale, he’s been phenomenal throughout the season.

Now we come to the main verdict. Is the season finale of “The Wheel of Time” satisfactory? As a viewer, who didn’t know anything about the book series, the trip was really special for me and the finale just made me realize that I won’t be able to forget it for very long. The finale is epic, thrilling, and will not be gone out of fans’ minds for many years to come.

But this is not the end of the road and we know that it is only the beginning of the war for all the characters. So, let’s wait for Season 2 and embrace what we’ve witnessed over the past eight weeks.
