For the first time since Walmart launched its premium subscription, Walmart+, the big box store is hosting a discount weekend for its members. Walmart+ Weekend will be held June 2-5 and includes deals on everything from home appliances to clothing and kids’ categories. But you’ll need to be a Walmart+ member to take advantage of it (there’s now a Free 30-day trial of Walmart+ subscription for new members). So, is this membership right for you, and how good are the offers?

What do you get with a Walmart+ subscription?

A Walmart+ subscription costs $12.95 per month or $98 per year (just under $14.99 and $139 for Amazon Prime) – and there is currently a Free 30-day trial of Walmart+ subscription which you can use to take full advantage of Walmart+ Weekend. Some key benefits of Walmart+ membership include:

  • Free shipping on thousands of items with no minimum order.

  • Free shipping, often same day, from your local store with a minimum order of $35.

  • Savings of up to 10 cents per gallon as at Walmart, Sam’s Club, Murphy’s and Exxon and Mobil gas stations.

  • Exclusive discounts on items in-store and online.

  • Six months of Spotify Premium, free.

Whether a Walmart+ membership is right for you mainly depends on how often you shop or plan to shop at the retailer. Those who shop several times a month at a Walmart and plan to order items for delivery will likely find the price worth it. “Walmart+ is really about shopping and delivery benefits, so if you like to place small orders as and when you need them, it’s worth it,” says Kristin McGrath, BlackFriday’s shopping expert. com. “Free same-day delivery on a minimum order of $35 is also great for families who don’t have time to hop in the car to pick up what they need.”

The other big thing to consider is gas. Walmart+ members receive instant cashback of up to 10 cents on every gallon of fuel they purchase at participating Exxon and Mobil gas stations, and 5-10 cents per gallon at Walmart and Murphy’s stations . With gasoline prices soaring, this might be one of the most attractive features of the Walmart+ program currently offers. “It’s a really exciting perk right now, saving on gas,” says smart shopping expert Trae Bodge. But McGrath adds that while that benefit can be significant, you need to consider how often you use participating gas stations.

Are the offers worth it Walmart+ Weekend?

Deal pro Bodge thinks so. “I’ve been on the fence with Walmart+ since it came out because I didn’t think it offered enough for most consumers to be worth it. They are clearly removing a page from the Amazon Prime playbook offering these exclusive deals to Walmart+ members, doing so Walmart+ more valuable,” says Bodge.

Shoppers who shop at Walmart, especially in the midst of historic inflation, often get great deals on everyday items, given Walmart’s competitive pricing. Bodge recommends combining Walmart+ Weekend agreements with other means of savings will pay big dividends for consumers.

How to take advantage of Walmart+ weekend sales

There are four steps buyers can follow to do Walmart+ The weekend really pays off.

First, make your purchase with a credit card that gives you rewards back – Bread Financial just launched a new American Express card that offers 2% cash back on all purchases, for example; and Walmart’s own Capital One credit card, which also offers 2% back on in-store purchases and 5% back online, is a great option for Walmart shoppers. Note that rewards cards aren’t worth it if you don’t pay your balance in full and on time.

Second, check coupon aggregators like Coupon Cabin to make sure you’ve found every possible deal related to the item you have your eye on. The site currently offers Walmart coupons – combining them with Walmart+ offers could add up to powerful savings on June 2.

Third, add a shopping extension to your browser. Coupon Cabin has its own, Buddy, and other popular options are Honey Where WikiDeals. Adding a coupon finder extension will automatically find available deals to pile on top of existing savings, with very little effort on your part. “If they do nothing else, I always advise shoppers to install at least one browser extension so they know they’re not missing out on any offers,” Bodge said.

And finally, do some comparison shopping. “What people don’t always realize is that they may assume that the sale price they found is the lowest price,” Bodge said. “That may be true, but there may still be opportunities to save even more.”
